UI lacking, Preferences limited

I enjoy the board game but this app could use some work. Several issues Ive already encountered after one play: - No "undo" button or "are you sure?" dialog. If you accidentally touch the wrong button youre screwed. (Agricola and Puerto Rico apps both have something like this built in). - Yes and No buttons are offered in the form of Checkmark and X mark but there is nowhere verbalizing what the question even is. If you lose track of what step they are talking about, you are left helpless. Spaces are not highlighted when they are in play so there is no cue from that. There should be a ? to click. - You need to memorize what the different buildings look like to know what they are on the board. There is no info provided when you tap on it. You can go to the deep menu to look it up but thats a pain. - Visually, its sometimes hard to tell which space the Provost is on because hes sort of between two. - You cant access Options from the game without quitting the game. - The Option menu is sparse anyway with only 4 settings. (Music, Sound Effects, Facebook login, Tutorial on/off.) - Options I would like to see: AI and Animation Speed"; Are you Sure?" Dialog on/off; Music and Sound Effects VOLUME, Change graphics to look like Board Game pieces, etc. (the current graphics look pretty but its nice to have options)

love Caylus, but not the app

I bought this game because I own and like the boardgame and wanted a version to play offline while traveling. I have not evaluated the online play. So far, this app is more aggravating than fun. 1) No pass-and-play. 2) AI is not competitive. Also, only two bots are available from each skill level, so to play a 4- or 5-player game, you need to include bots from not the top level. 3) The onscreen text shown in screenshots, (e.g. "Place worker for 1(coin)") doesnt actually exist in the app. Its incredibly frustrating sometimes figuring out what the app is waiting for you to do. 4) No Undo. See #3. Without the text prompts, youre likely to click the wrong thing once or twice per game. Oh well. The good news is, see #1, youll probably beat the AI even with occasional misunderstandings. 5) Cant change the game play speed. 6) Board sacrifices clarity for prettiness. Hard to immediately see things like the location of the provost or whether players have passed. Some people will prefer the prettiness, I guess.

Crashing in Online Game

Have been playing the local version (against bots) for two days with no trouble, but it started crashing out repeatedly today when my bf and i started playing against each other in online mode. Have been trying for fifteen minutes to resume our game, to no avail. I am hooked on this game--its killing me. Would be five stars otherwise. Please fix this bug ASAP!!

Great game loving it

Very true to the board game and easy to use. Some reviewers felt a tutorial was needed but I think the help screens are adequate and after a couple games even someone new to Caylus will understand how to play. I do not get to play with friends at home so this is perfect. I have not tried online yet and some users experienced crashing issues. I hope those are fixed since I really love this game.

At first I loved it

This is a great game, bettered only by the excellent interface! However, after getting used to the strategies, the AI is relatively easy to beat. Wish online play was better. I enjoyed and got my moneys worth, just wish their was more.

Good game, bad online multiplayer

Fun game, until you play online. I have tried 3 online games, and ALL have crashed at some point, rendering the game unplayable. Once the multiplayer is fixed, Ill update this review.

Very Good Board Game. Very Good App.

If youve enjoyed the board game, this is a great port of it.

Love this game!

Great interpretation of the board game. Plays faster too.

Great game but crashes when I won :(

It is a classic and great game. I absolutely enjoy it. But it crashes whenever I won. Other than that, it is fun.

Caylus is a fantastically designed game that translates well to the iPad

I think Caylus is wonderful, mostly about the great setting and that it is sort of like you have a king that wants a castle that gives you stuff that you need to order to upgrade the castle more. I like that the amount of choices you have increases over the course of a game. I think its hard to explain how good it is. Isaac, age 9

just like the real game

awesome.

Good, but AI is too easy

Ive played two games so far and each play through with different AI. Ive demolished them both times. Seems like it may be an online only game. Good otherwise though.

Challenging

Hard to get people to play this one, so its great to have it on my phone

Game Center exists for a reason. Use it.

Another game that wants me to give them my email address rather than use the built-in (and privacy-preserving) Game Center provided by Apple. Deleting from my device. Do not buy.

Great game

Very nice game. Just needs an undo button

Best board game app Ive played.

Just as fun as the board game minus the setup and cleanup!

Great Board Game for iPad

I really enjoy this iPad version of this great board game. I wish more people would play online. Every time I login online, I am the only one.

Awesome!

Great way to kill time. Great game!

Fantastic!

What a great implementation of the board game. Maybe with some practice against the AI, I can finally get good at the game.

small and unclear

I have played the board game, and this was disappointing. The pictures are small, but worse: the possible results are unclear for various actions. There are confirmations required where they need not be, but missing in other places. Not strongly playtested by weaker players.
